Masunaga x Kenzo eyewear combines vintage inspired elements with contemporary design. Every piece has delicate engravings on the bridge, bar and temples, which are reminiscent of 1920’s jewellery detailing. The original rim is designed with the star motif from Masunaga GMS and Kenzo Takada’s family emblem the campanule flower.
Masunaga Optical premiered the production of eyewear in Fukui, Japan in 1905. As many as 200 manual processes are involved in the manufacture of Masunaga frames. Since the beginning, Masunaga has strived to “manufacture excellent eyeglasses.….. it is always in our thoughts.”
Kenzo Takada, fashion designer, was inspired by Japanese kimonos early on in his fashion career. His refreshing use of colour, pattern and print led him to become “the magician of colours.” He became one of the most important fashion designers who led the Prêt-à-Porter in Paris.
This eyewear collaboration is exquisite. Every design is manufactured from the best materials: precious metals, the finest acetate, lightweight titanium. This collection embodies Japanese eyewear at its finest!
